How does everyone log food when they have been out for dinner? Do you just guess at the weight and hope for the best? its not to much of a problem for me this week as I have been under every day but just interested what people do.

Best guess really, plus some more for good measure.

But as I am generally a steak or chicken and veg person, its easier to estimate than most other dishes.

Mine would usually be something like meat, veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and stuffing. Nothing to bad but I don't want to ruin what I've achieved this week by having to much.

Eat less than you would normally for breakfast and lunch, this will allow for the extra calories from a meal out..particularly the yorkshire pud..

There are going to be situations, where your best guess is going to have to do and this is one of them.

If you're not going to a chain place where they give the nutrition info online, then yeah....just estimate as best you can.

The biggest issue for me when I eat out is to be honest about the portion size. My gosh, they are so big these days.

It's easier now that I'm used to eating smaller portions. I know when I've had an actual portion. Logging is better now. The reality is........restaurant portions are sometimes as much as 3 times larger than what's suggested.

I try to find similar items that I will eat at a non-chain restaurant with the calorie content of its counterpart at the chain restaurant. Usually checking a few different restaurants to get a good idea of how many calories to put.

well ive been out and I could only eat half of my dinner. I guess my stomach is already used to eating smaller portions. I went a bit over on my "guessed" calories but not too worried as I had loads of exercise calories left over from the week.

    Guessing! :]

I tend to visit the restaurants website (if I have time) before-hand to see nutritional values but that isn't always possible. I visit a lot of small, independent restaurants that don't have any values displayed. I just guess - I tend to 'over estimate' for insurance purposes ;)
