When you fill in your stats here at MFP and start logging your food ( so weigh it on a digital scale and log it)
You will notice that it gives you the macro's too.

Now if you want to eat more protein or carbs or fiber etc you can see in your diary how much you have and by doing this you will learn to eat some more yogurt because you know that 225 grams gives you about 20 gram of protein etc etc :)
Or that my daily evening popcorn gives me 58 gram of carbs

So a matter of starting and learning. When you get better and better in logging you start tweaking food to fit your macro's better.

it depends on your goals-but when i was close to my total loss goal last year and wanting to tone, i did 30/40/30 as in carbs/protein/fat. days where you work out, you may switch it up to 40/30/30 but the recommendation is usually not to go under 30 for fat
