Help me plan for a week away!

Hi all,

I'm going to be going to a 7 day conference with work in a couple of weeks. Several things that scare me progress wise:

The days are 9am-9pm so no time for even a walk!
It's in the US and I have heard their portion sizes can be pretty big, and I have no control over what will be served.
It's not that feasible to lug over my computer, dumbells and Jillian Michaels DVDs to do shred in my poky shared room :)
After the end of the day there tends to be a lot of social drinking, this forms part of the 'networking' aspect of the conference.

Anyone been in a similar situation? Any ideas? I'm fairly close to goal weight so not too concerned with continuing to lose, but do NOT want to gain!

On work trips i get up early and jog outside and sightsee when the weather permits. Goinyo that conference with a healthy wakeful glow! Also hotel gyms arw usually 24hour access. Snack on veggies or fruit during day so a heavy dinner doesnt feel so necessary.

Worst case, you can still do a walk in the morning, or hotel gym if you prefer, though most of those sort of suck.

No, you won't have control over the size of what you're served; you do have complete control over what you consume.

9pm - 9 am it's 12h work day. So you still have 12 free hours left, aren't you? Wake up a hour earlier or go to sleep a hour later and do your cardio then. You can jump on a spot at your room and pretend that you have jump rope, if you don't have space to do other type of cardio.

US have same portion sizes as other countries pretty much. Don't listen to horror stories. And even if portion sizes would be huge, if you are eating at cafe or something there still usually are macros in their menu. If that's not the case then you still can estimate average calories and macros in there, if you been counting calories for a while you should be able to guess pretty close by now. And you are not obligated to ate the whole portion either, aren't you?

Same with alcohol, you can log it and all the calories in it. Or just drink juice instead of alcohol, you can still socialize. It's not like you magically get rejected to join a party if you have juice instead of beer. :D
