I am having serious Lower Back pain!!!! I usually run on a treadmill around 4 miles. On saturday I went for a 4 mile walk with my 30 IB toddler in the stroller and now my back has been killing me!!! Any strengthening moves or ideas would be helpful...I have been feeling terrible since saturday.

  • Chiropractic has been AMAZING for my low back. Plus it's all natural, no injections, or pain meds!

Stick to some flexion stretches for now (touching toes, etc.), keep moving...walking. If it doesn't get better in a few days see a doc.
If it starts to feel better you can return to your activities but add in plenty of core strengthening exercises.

Every so many months my back will just be sore for no reason and it usually lasts for a week or two (or until I make a drs. appt and it goes away right before  ). A few tips I've learned along the years of having a bad back.

Sit in hard chairs (too soft chairs will keep you from sitting with the correct posture...only when your back actually hurts though, I'm not suggesting you sit in hard chairs forever).

Do stretches....you can go online and find stretches to do to help your back, but the one I like the most is lying on your back and one leg at a time, hold your leg straight in the air and have a friend or family member push you leg back toward your head so you stretch your hamstrings.

Also lying flat on my back on the hard floor for a few minutes helps sometimes too

Of course I am no doctor, so if it keeps bothering you too much or doing any of the above hurts it more, stop and see a doctor. If you can still walk and generally get around ok, give it a week or so and see if it feels any better, you probably just over did it/moved wrong/pulled something/pinched something etc (gotta love backs). In fact mine is just starting to feel better after two weeks of pain....it started hurting on my first day back from vacation, the first time I got up from my desk chair. I guess my back wasn't used to my chair so it decided to hurt. Of course its never done that from any other return from vacation, but what can I say, my back hates me. Good luck!

I had something similiar happen to me about 2 months ago......but my lower back/ab pain turned out to be kidney stones from too much protein intake.....

It was awful I was down and out for a month....had to have surgery cause the stone was HUGE....

it felt similiar to a backache...my doctor treated it as such for a month with muscle relaxors, etc....,

not untill I feel face down on the pavement going to my car afterwork did I realize it was more than a backache LOL

it felt like I was shot in my back it hurt so bad....went to hospital and after an ultrasound...viola!

Never gamble with your back ever.

If you have serious back pain, go to see your GP immediately and he will be able to see what it is. If you have something like tendonitis or disc problems he will be able to advise you further or refer you to a Chiropractor or similar Specialist. If you have merely strained your muscles, he will be able to advise you on the correct exercises.

If you gamble and think that the pain in your back is something that it is not, you could try certain exercises and end up hurting yourself so much you will wish you had your time again to change things!

See your doctor, he's qualified and will give you correct advice.

I really hope your back gets better soon :flowerforyou:
