Sick-- will gentle exercise make things worse?

I got blindsided by a stomach bug this morning. My symptoms are all below the neck, so I know running is out of the question. Can I just walk the distance I'd usually run? Google is giving me mixed results.

I'm getting pretty antsy just laying in bed. I've still got a low fever, but the medicine is starting to handle my other symptoms pretty well, now.

Part of exercise is how well you recover from your exercise. If you're sick your body must work to recover from the sickness you have. I would recommend not causing additional stress to it at this time and let your body recover so you can come back strong and start training again. A couple days won't ruin or hinder your progress.

I would rest. Your body needs to recover.

The activity won't make you any more sick, but the lack of rest could. If you're getting enough rest (both rest and sleep), then you're probably fine to walk or whatever. If you're not getting enough rest, then you're likely to get worse no matter what you do or don't do.

IMO. No white lab coat over here, so take it for what it's worth.

if you feel well enough to walk, i'd walk half the distance at a nice slow-nonpower walking pace
but if you are doing it because you think you are supposed to, then don't

i hear you though, I missed my run this morning because of a cold and I'm nearly crawling out of my skin

Rest and hydrate. Will get you back out running quicker than pushing yourself now

I'm not too concerned about making progress on my runs. That can wait until I'm better. I'm just really bored! I have my books and video games, but it's so nice outside today that I keep wanting out.

Well, if you play video games on a tablet or phone; connect to wifi and sit outside and play. But give your body a chance to rest or you risk it getting worse and being sidelined longer. ;)

I looked this one up because I'm trying to get rid of an upper respiratory bug. Cardio is out I know because I'll start coughing again, but I have been trying to do a set of 10 or 15 squats every time I think about it. Not sure it helps, but better than nothing. I'm at maintenance weight and would like to stay there.

Your nutrition will affect your weight more than missing a couple days of exercise.
