hello everyone,

I am a bit confused about IIFYM macros vs My Fitnesspal...So Fitnesspal tells me, I need less than 85gram of Fat...I was like really? which is the most important of MACROS or Nutrition information nor BOTH?

I hope to hear from you and feedback....I don't care if you criticize me or whatever...

To lose weight it's just calories in vs calories out.

I'd use the macros IIFYM gave you and track your food using MFP. That's what I did and I was good to go!

    This is wrong.
It ALL matters. They all add up to your caloric goals (ie 1g of protien is 4 calories vs 1g of fat is 9 calories).
Eat to MEET you goals, if you go over by 2, 3, 4 that is fine!!! But don't eat less than those.

The idea of IIFYM is to not worry where the sources come from, but just the macros.

Basic summary, if you have specific questions, feel free to ask

I have found that for me, keeping my macros in check is very important. Eating too many carbs will cause you to feel hungrier, but not enough carbs will hinder the effectiveness of your workouts and brain function. Good quality fats are important - they give you the feeling of fullness. And protein contains the building blocks for building and repairing muscle tissue. It also helps you feel full longer. For me, I am weight training and need about 140-150 g protein, about the same # of carbs and 35-45 g fat for weight loss and muscle building. But everyone is different. I am aiming for 1600 cals a day right now but will be increasing that number as my lean muscle builds.

This is what I do as well. Work out my macros from iifym.com and then track according to those figures. Can sometimes put mfp out and will show that I've eaten more than I should. But my concern is my individual macros, not what mfp tells me.

The "Y" in IIFYM is kind of important...they're YOUR macros, not what some computer spits out. There is no magical, universally optimal macro breakdown. A marathon runner is going to have a different ideal macro ratio to, say, a body builder.

IIFYM is just a concept (it's not a website...that site is just capitalizing on the concept) by which you focus more on the macros than what necessarily makes up those macros.

Thank you guys! I got it and I now understand. I follow my tracking and I made it. I don't beat up myself ;)
