sore ball of foot

Hi , I'm seeing a surgeon in Dec as the ball of my right foot is painful depite seeing a podiatrist, insoles , box toe shoes etc. I think my bunion has thrown my foot bones out of alignment and I think I may need surgery. I was a slow jogger -2-3 miles was what I had built up to. My question is - has anyone had bunion surgery and how long did it take before you could begin jogging/running ?
