I'm trying to lose 2lbs a week but not sure of what foods to consume and how often as 1200 calories isn't much.. anyone else with the same goal any tips? I'm currently eating clean and exercising when I can as I'm busy with my kids. I'm 5'2 and trying to lose pregnancy weight 5 weeks pp. I'm 21 so hoping my body bounces back

You had a baby five weeks ago? Congratulations!
With only 26lbs to lose and a recent bub I think 2lb a week is possibly too much of an aggressive goal for you.
Are you breastfeeding? If so, 1200 calories definitely isn't enough to sustain yourself and the breastfeeding, and you milk may dry up.
Please reconsider your weight loss goal for your sake and your baby's health sake. You need enough nutrition to sustain yourself and the baby even if not breastfeeding.
1lb per week is sustainable and will allow some additional calories, and don't forget extra calories for breastfeeding. Sometimes you may lose up to 1lb per week, sometimes none but as long as the long term trend is down its all good.

Aggressive. Readjust to 1 lb a week. Much better/safer.0

I would agree with this. 2 lbs a week is going to be very aggressive, especially post having a child (congrats), and even more so if you are going to be breast feeding which needs additional calories. With 26 lbs, generally 1 lb per week is going to be a better fit.0 -

that's true I guess I've changed my goal to 1lb a week hope that makes a difference still. I just want to me size 10-8 (UK size) again wish me luck!0 -
Congratulations on the baby! The weight will come off and you and your baby will be healthy as long as you eat sensibly, like the posters above have said. One trick that works for me with little babies around is go to to bed early. Most days I go to sleep shortly after my children do. I get plenty of sleep (with nighttime interuptions, of course) I am less crazy hungry the next day, and nighttime is when I tend to go over my calorie goal with snacking, so it all woks out well. That is one change I made, and it has probably made the biggest difference. Enjoy your little one!0

Also, take it easy with the exercising for a few more weeks!0

Congrats!! A simple rule of thumb is that to lose 1lb of body fat you need to eat 500 calories less than you burn each day. Use the BMR calculator and work out additional calorie burning throughout the day and go from there. I've reat that breastfeeding will count towards calories burnt by about 300-500 calories a day WOW!0

I hope you find what works best for you and not what others will push you into trying! Good luck!0 -
Try not to cut back your calories too much (take into consideration the calories you are burning breastfeeding) otherwise your milk will dry up!0

I'm 3 months postpartum and started losing a month ago.if you are breastfeeding it is best to wait until at least two months pp before cutting calories as it takes that long to establish your milk supply. Once it is established then play with your calorie intake to see what works. In the first week or two I bounced around between 1500 and 2000 calories. I found 1500 to little and it affected my supply slightly. I've since settled on 1630 plus an extra 300 for breastfeeding. It takes some experimenting but you will find the right balance. I'm down 15lbs already.0

Do you give this advice to everyone? I've seen this exact same post with the exact same wording on other threads today.
What do you hope to achieve with this kind of advice? I'm honestly curious as to your reasoning behind it.0 -
The doctor will be able to tell what you should and should not be eating and drinking.
I agree that one pound a week seems better than two. A new baby (especially the first baby) can really suck the life out of you. They're adorable! But they're work! You want to have all the energy you can, so eating to lose 2lbs a week...probably not the best route.
Do the crunches! I know everyone has probably told you that, lol, but they're really helpful. Many people get their skin to bounce back, but some women will always have a little extra skin on their belly. It's a badge of honor, IMO. You earned that extra skin and you have the darling baby to prove it.
Someday, when that baby is a teen (and that comes faster than you can imagine!), you can tell them how hard the labor was and how much they messed up your body. It works a long time, lol. My baby is older than you are and when I start in about my hemorrhoids, leaky bladder and how many hours I spent in labor, he still groans and does what he's told.0 -
What is with all of these aggressive goals of +2lbs a week? That's extremely taxing on your body, aim for .5-1lb a week and take your time, you're quite literally changing your body, and if you have expectations of it being a quick process you're definitely mistaken, losing 2lbs a week would result in fat loss and muscular catabolism. Youd whined up being skin and bones. Plus a woman with some tone and definition is 100x more attractive than a starving model0
