Help with the food database

I am having trouble with the food database. For instance, I know I already have strawberries among my own foods - but did I pick up "Fruit-Strawberries", "Generic-Strawberries", "Organic-Strawberries", or "Strawberries"? I have to search through four pages of my own foods carefully before I decide whether I need to conduct a search of MFP's own comprehensive food database.

Is there a way to search your OWN foods for a key word? Several times now (I see it with tahini), I have put in something twice because I couldn't quickly find something in my own food database and so brought it in again with a different wording. This is frustrating to me pretty much daily! When you search, it defaults to MFP's database and I don't know how to search my own first.

If you have a smartphone, download and use the MFP app for Android or iOS. The mobile apps use predictive text to narrow down the search from your favorite (Recent and Frequent) lists. The Web version uses old technology and does not have this capability.

On the Web version, try changing the Sort by drop-down option to "Name" when adding food to your Food Diary, which might be more helpful.

Thank you. I do search by name but, as indicated in my original post, there are so many names for the same thing & I can't remember which way I chose it when I first added it to my foods. I haven't tried yet with a Smartphone, so I will do that next.

They should be in a list of your recent foods.

Yes, but that means I have to scroll through four pages looking for the exact name I saved - at least twice now, I've missed seeing something I was sure I'd already added to my foods and now have it twice in my list. I'd like to be more efficient than that!
