Hi don't stress about it. Do which ever you enjoy. Over time you can go faster and harder.

Either one is going to burn calories, so do what you enjoy. Alternating between the two will help you from getting burned out.

your diet is going have far more to do with your weight management than what exercise you're doing or how fast you're running, etc.

i cycle around 60-80 miles per week....lift 2-3x per week...walk my dog regularly and chase my kids all over the place...i also throw in a little swimming here and there and enjoy a good hike in the mountains. I've lost weight, maintained weight, and gained weight doing all that stuff with the difference in weight being attributable to my consumption of energy (calories).

regular exercise has the added benefit of making weight management easier in that it increases your body's energy (calorie) requirements...but in and of itself isn't going to result in weight loss.

diet for weight management, exercise for fitness.

The best cardio is whatever you enjoy most. As you get fitter you'll find it easier/get quicker. Or you'll want to try different things for variety. Just find whatever you can stick with for now
