    Macronutrients. Your body needs a bunch of stuff that can be eaten. Some are needed in big amounts and they are carbs, fats and proteins. Since they're needed in big amounts, they're called MACROnutrients.

    Other things, like vitamins and minerals (e.g. calcium, manganese, Vitamin K, copper), are required in small or even teeny-tiny amounts. Since we only need little amounts, we call them micronutrients. (If I could've made the "micro" smaller, I would've.)

    One isn't more important than the other. Micros are every bit as important as macros. The names are just because of the amounts. :)
