Counting calories in and of itself does not cause weight loss. Being in a calorie deficit causes weight loss. You could eat 4000 calories and count every single one of them, but unless you are a performance athlete (ie burning more than 4000 calories), you wont lose weight.0

I mean counting at a calorie defecit0

Did some shills say that? Of course they would say it would not work, they want to sell you expensive things. Wraps and shakes and pills and 30-day fixes. A calorie deficit will make anyone lose weight. It's not possible to maintain weight if you are at a calorie deficit.0

If you do it right, it works. But there are many ways to lose weight that don't require counting and will still work. You just have to try stuff out and find what works for you.

Bottom line: if you don't eat at a calorie deficit you won't lose weight.
But, you do not have to literally count calories to lose weight, but for me it sure makes keeping that deficit easier. Everyone is different, though, and you need to find the method that works best for you.0 -

Don't worry. Those things are meaningless next to the fact that EVERY major medical organization anywhere says it DOES work. The things you read are probably trying to sell you something, like another PP said. And that something is very frequently CICO disguised by "eat this food not that food" or "Drink only this for week one, then drink this and eat only green veggies on week two". It's CICO in disguise so they can charge you money for it most of the time. Here's just the short list of actual medical professional organizations that say CICO works.
