Hi everyone. I am a 29 years old female, 5'3 and weighing 156.7. I lost 11.7 pounds in 3,5 weeks by walking an hour everyday. I want to start doing some toning exercises after walking but i have no idea which exercises i should do. My main problem is my belly but i also want my arms toned. I have been doing jillians michaels mini arm workout for a few days but i dont know what to do for my belly. I'd appreciate it if you help. Thanks in advance.

Please don't take this the wrong way, these are common misconceptions;
"Toning" isn't really a thing, and you can't spot reduce fat on a specific a body part.
However! If want your wanting is a bit of definition that will come as you get more lean. So the good news is if you just keep up your weight loss you will see some more defined lines on your arms if you are working on your muscles Same thing for your stomach, just keep doing your thing and the results will come!
As for some exercise ideas, there are heaps of youtube channels that can help you out - blogilates by Casey Ho is great! Or if instagram or pintrest is more your thing there are heaps of work outs and challenges that can help you out. I also found the Nike Training Club app pretty useful when I couldn't get to the gym - and it's free! SO that's a plus.
I hope these help, and keep up your fantastic work!0 -
You are going to get many posts telling you that you cannot spot reduce, isolating certain areas does not really work. Weight will come off where it wants to.
Toning is also kind of a taboo word. I think I know what you mean though, you want a more toned look. Having a toned look comes from building some muscle, and losing some fat.
Cardio is a great start, keep it up sounds like you are building some great habits.
If you want to build muscle, almost any kind of weight training will benefit you and will help you alter your body shape. I wouldn't think of it as doing just arm and stomach exercise...find a good full body workout that you can do a few times a week. It does not take as long as you might think and the benefits are enormous.
There are hundreds if not thousands of strong successful women on here who can guide you in the right direction. Good luck!0 -
Thanks for your answers. I wasnt sure if 1 hour daily walk is enough or not so i thought i would add something to my program. I know that you cant lose fat from a specific area but i thought there may be some exercises that would make my belly and my arms look better0

Arm & ab exercises won't give you much of an improvement, since those muscle groups are small and don't burn many calories. I'd avoid most targeted workouts, including Jillian and Blogilates. You'll get more results on a full-body strength program. It's better to use weights for this, but if you can't, do bodyweight exercises, like Nerd Fitness' beginner program, You Are Your Own Gym, etc. If you have weights, NROL4W and Stronglifts 5x5 are popular.0 -
Good luck. Keep at it, sounds like you found the motivation, so now combine it with some extra knowledge and you can do some amazing things!
Lift weights! You will see some awesome changes.0 -
Clarifying here that there are no such things as "toning" exercises. There are no "toning" squats, "toning" curls, "toning" tricep extensions, etc. They are just called squats, curls, tricep extensions. You want to "firm" up your arms? Then curls and tricep extensions are good ones to do.
