I've been doing cardio on an elliptical for about a month. I have dvds that combine cardio with strength and I'm not sure how I would count the calories.

I would start strength training now - I'm assuming you want to lose weight - You want strength training to keep your muscle - Eastcoast Jim0

The best time to begin strength training is a month ago. The second best time is immediately. Generally you don't count calories from strength training as it's almost impossible to do so accurately. Strength training isn't done for the calorie burn like cardio is, so don't treat it as such, but it is extremely important for your strength, and for retaining the muscle mass you have while losing weight.0
