Same or better?

So I've been pondering this for awhile now; of you do a high intensity work out for example, five minutes, do you burn the same or less or more as an easier workout that goes on for ten minutes. So my real question is, is it the same thing to work harder for less time and work average amount for double. Do they burn about the same amount of calories? (Sorry this is worded so awkwardly). Thanks

I don't think there is a simple and consistent answer to that. It will vary by person and also by the type of exercise.0

Great question for @SideSteel.0

Not enough info to figure it out but generally, high intensity training has a greater EPOC (you burn more calories after) and low intensity training allows you to burn more during, mainly because
you can sustain that activity for longer.
From a practical standpoint I'd let goals and preferences determine training modality regardless.0
