Another way to look at liquor

So, we've been doing some research on alcohol. Specifically liquors - everyone loves a good shot of bourbon or whiskey occasionally, right?

Apparently, from everything I've been reading, there aren't just 3 types of calories - protein, carbs and fat - there are 4 types - with the fourth being alcohol. No, I really am not making this up. There are a number of websites and studies that agree with this (http://www.dietitian.com/alcohol.html#.VkNgiL9UW1o - 6th question and answer is one such example).

So that begs the question: Why does MFP not track alcohol calories, and what's the RDA? I want to make sure I'm reaching my target numbers!  :drinker: :drinker:

Alcohol it's self doesn't have calories, it's like a chemical.. I think :/ It's the sugars in the drink that make it calorific. Wine would have more calories than vodka etc. Mfp does track calories in alcoholic drinks..

I know you posted this tongue in cheek but I think MFP should have an alcohol tracker.

I'm fairly sure that it is the bodies preferred source of energy as well, in that it will be used first. What more reason do I need to partake in half a bottle ;)

Ethanol is essentially a 2 carbon fatty acid...
