This popped up today so thought I would share.

https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/low-energy-sweeteners-and-weight-control/

EDIT: for anyone who doesn't want to read the whole article the conclusion was that low energy sweeteners probably help with weight control.

Sucralose has been crazy helpful in my weight loss and subsequent maintenance.

That was a good read! I still have concerns they might not be well understood at the cellular level in the human body the way transfats snuck up on us, but I do REALLY enjoy them & use them sparingly but consistently. Nothing beats an icy cold Diet Coke on a hot hot day!

Yes, thanks as well. My takeaway is that they don't get in the way of weight control. I don't really buy that they are superior to water though... I would guess that effect is that people who consume LES are more focused on weight management and make other modifications to their diet.

That's what I took away too. Sure LES help with weight management. ......they're replacing high calorie alternatives.

I didn't take away that it was superior to water, just that likely something else is at play there. Greater incidence of compensation, maybe?
