Dr. Oz is generally unpopular around here. Mostly because he is a self-promoting charlatan.

Oh honey, you're not going to get a lot of love for that here. My best help I can give you is to forget Dr Oz, he's just after your cash. He backs every new 'miracle' product as they come out, makes as much money as he can, then dumps them for the next miracle.

You don't NEED his diet, or anyone's, really! All you need to do is get a short education on how it all works, and get underway :) Have a read of this thread to start: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1296011/calorie-counting-101/p1

Have a read of some success stories, use the search function to get a quick look at anything you're wondering about and don't be afriad to ask for advice. But don't buy into the fad diets! You don't need them!

I dont know why people hate on him, he seems to just want to help and offer people natural ways to improve their health. I dont think I ever heard him give advice that could be dangerous to someones health, or heard him say not to follow their dr's advice first.
I only watch him once in a while, so maybe I missed something.

I wouldn't listen to anything Dr oz says or promotes. Seriously, he's a wacko. He's promoting ridiculous stuff, to make a profit. Do a search on here, and you'll see what I mean.

If you'd like to lose weight, all you need is a calorie deficit. No special diets are necessary at all. In fact, they don't teach the tools needed for long term success anyway. Most people lose some water weight, and regain anything else lost because they never stopped to learn how weight loss really works.

Remember, weight loss comes down to cico. Eat less then you burn, and you'll lose weight. Calorie deficit- weight loss. That's the only thing needed. Don't waste your time with gimmicks and fads.

Thing is, he profits off products that he is well aware don't do a darned thing, at the same time convincing people they NEED these products and undermining their believe that they can do this without miracle pills. He's a scam artist. He has gotten very, very rich convincing people they need something they don't. That's dishonesty at it's most blatant.

I guess I missed those episodes, the ones I remember seeing is him teaching which foods are good for particular conditions. Or which foods are good to add to diet/replace with.

He whacks his name on every pill, potion or supplement to hit the market, makes a bloody fortune from people excitedly buying it, then dumps it as soon as a new one comes along, all while knowing they are nothing but a sham.

Dr. Oz admitted to promoting products that he knows do not work.

"I recognize they don’t have the scientific muster to present as fact"

A group of scientists sat down and analyzed the claims he has made and determined that less than half were supported by science.

An older lady in my moms doctors office was reading one of his books about weight loss. She started a conversation among the other women waiting in the room. She was saying how certain foods have stopped her from losing weight and I just started to laugh. I said did Dr oz tell you this craziness? She said yes! And held up his book. Lol! ( it was an eBook on a kindle )
I got into an hour discussion about it and pointed out every untruth in the sections she showed. The whole book is lunacy at its best. Absolutely unnecessary for weight loss.
So I was still in the waiting area when the lady came out ( I was waiting for my mom ) and she said, I just told the doctor what the book says and the doctor laughed also. He said just eat less.
So yeah, Dr oz is laughable and sells woo in order to make money. He is a wack job and should be ashamed of himself for spreading so much bad info
