Runny nose after a funrun

I Googled "runner's flu" but this does not seem to be a thing.

I did my first (10km) funrun on Sunday morning, and on Sunday afternoon I needed to blow my nose about 50 times!

It got better gradually as a few days passed. My nose never got blocked, it was just running a lot. Maybe to copy the rest of me running! I also sneezed a fair bit.

I found out today that a workmate who did the 21 km the same day had the same problem.

Why does this happen? I've never had any allergies.

Is this a thing?

The only time that's ever happened to me there's been a high pollen count but I do have slight hayfever.

I know you say you've never had allergies but there might have just been some local conditions that triggered it, that you haven't come across before. Seems especially likely if it also happened to someone else. I'm not saying I don't have to blow my nose after a run, but never 50 times

    It's a thing. A really annoying thing.

It happens to me after intense runs/workouts. I get a runny nose and sometimes a "smokers' cough" for the remainder of the day (btw I don't smoke). My friend sneezes repeatedly (for hours afterward) and gets so stuffed up she can't taste food. She's tried multiple nasal sprays and other things and nothing helps.

Thanks for the interesting links. I started taking Wobenzym systemic enzymes a few weeks ago and noticed my nose does not have running spells like before. Allergies can be such a pain when they flare. Systemic enzymes are useful to some people with allergies. I am hoping they help with a child with fluid build up in the ears.

It might seem odd, but it's good to know this is quite common and it snot just me. ;)

It happens to me all the time when I cycle below a certain temperature ... like around 10C or lower. That's why cycling gloves have the terry cloth bit on the thumb. :)

Wow, we have a lot in common...including the runny nose lol
I did my first 10km fun run last Sunday morning. Checked your profile and we are both the same age and from Australia.
