I have a Microsoft Fitness Band. It tells me I regularly burn 1500-1600 calories in a 24 hour period. Should I keep my daily calorie Goal 1200 per MFP????

The overwhelming consensus is that women should maintain a minimum 1200 calorie intake. The argument against eating below 1200 is that you cannot get a sufficient amount of macro and micro nutrients to maintain a healthy life style.
You burn up more lean muscle mass with too much calorie restriction among other issues..
I will add that those 24 hour numbers seem a bit low from the median values found in more rigorous metabolic studies and research.0 -
Thx. I have been at this for 2 weeks with remaining surplus of calories daily. I have not lost anything. Scales say
I have gained a lb. So discouraged.0 -
2 weeks is too soon to see significant change on the scale. If you're eating a deficit, the 1 lb is probably water or salt. If you're new at this, I suggest getting a $20 kitchen scale and weighing your portions to make sure you're eating under your goal. My two cents. (I'm 5'4, 145 (was 189) and burn between 1600-2000 calories a day.)0
