I love how easy it is to make and track a salad with my scale! I just put my empty bowl on the scale zero it out then put in my ingredients zeroing it after each one. Even the salad dressing works this way. I also make smoothies this way!

Scales with tare features are awesome, aren't they?!? I use mine for everything, especially ice cream.

Yep. I prep a bunch of my salad stuff on Sunday afternoon and just weigh it out each day. I eat a giant salad every day and it's easier than almost anything else I could make.

that makes it super simple - mad at myself for not ever thinking about it.
even cereal with milk and blueberries could be done this way
    or yogurt with toppings
    a big thanx to you

My husband clued me into it when he was making me something the other day. He just kept zeroing it after adding ingredients. I figured it was pretty awesome!

It took me a while to convince myself that a digital food scale was worth the investment. It totally is! I love being able to switch between units, and the tare function.

You can use this to measure how much you take out of a jar, too. We'll use peanut butter as an example. Put an open jar of PB on the scale and tare it to zero. Scoop out however much you want and put the jar back on the scale. The negative amount is how much you scooped out. Feel free to lick the spoon as it's part of that number.

Great idea. I find peanut butter the hardest to measure. So sticky.

I wonder if there's a "scale trick" thread out there with all the different ways to make using a scale easier.

I actually just saw an ad on Facebook for a digital plate. It weighs food and had sensor that could scan the food or something to better understand what is on the plate. It was crazy. Supposed to come out next year some time. I'm not sure it would eventually connect with mfp but it will have its own app.

OMG, I can't believe I have been using a scale for so long and never thought to tare between adding items. I tare for the weight of the container and that's it. Often I would weigh, dump and weigh the next item. Thank you! Thank you for pointing out the obvious to someone who overlooked such a simple solution.
