Daily sugar allowance?

I notice I keep going over on my sugar allowance. The program automatically gave me 1200/cal a day with 24g of sugar total for the day. However, I keep going over. A container of yogurt and 2 servings of fruit will put me way over every single time. I'm concerned because I know it's hard for me to lose weight if I take in too much sugar or "bad" carbohydrates. What is a more realistic daily goal, especially if I'm trying to watch my carb intake?

Remember "REAL" Sugar isn't something to worry about going over on! It's when we are eating over 24grams of "JUNK" Sugar is when we need to stop and worry about that.... Real sugar that comes in fruits, Veggies, Yogurts things like that are better for you.. So if you going over eating "Real" sugar i won't worry to much about it!!!

I would worry about 24g of processed sugar. No one ever gained a ton of weight because of fruit and (most) yogurts. But if you know you're eating ice cream or something, I would look at the sugar in something along those lines because its synthetic. When it comes to natural sugar, I really don't take that into account that much because our bodies can process natural sugar. I hope that helps.

I guess I get frieked out from seeing the red overage in the sugar column everyday. But when I look at what's pushing it over, it's the fruits and yogurt. My meals are pretty low sugar. I try to eat the greek yogurt for protein and the fruits for keeping me full. I know that the natural sugars are better but I've been worried that its going to affect my blood sugar and slow down the weight loss process. Thanks, your responses have been helpful!

I used to have exactly the same problem. I have made a few changes, such as choosing yoghurt's that have the lowest amount of sugar per hundred grams and substituting bananas for fruit with lower sugar. Overall though as I know pretty much all my sugar comes from natural sources I removed the sugar value from my daily diary view. This makes me feel much better as I only see green figures at the end of the day. Kind of cheating I know but it works for me
