I've been eating a high protein diet for years now around 220 grams of protein. Would this be really bad for my kidneys? How much should i be eating? By the way i weigh about 215lbs and i work out 4 days a week. Any feedback would be appreciated!

My understanding that high protein diets should not be consumed by those with kidney disease as the diet may worsen kidney function.

If your kidneys are healthy there shouldn't be any issues with a high protein diet.

Every body have maximum amount of possible absorption, so other nonabsorbent substances body must excrete, so biggest part of exceation is doing liver then kidney. In theory is possible to have problems with kidneys and liver from higher amount of nonabsorbent proteins

At 2.25 g/kg of body weight it isn't at a level considered of issue for kidneys (if you are disease free) however, it might be a bit unnecessarily high if you aren't very lean.

    See Helm's article:

It would be a wise move to discuss this with your doctor.
