Hi everyone, wondered if anyone had any tips or words of encouragement for me. I lost a stone over a couple of months, and then let it slip and gained back some of it. Now I'm really struggling to get back into the dieting. I have started exercising again, but wondered if anyone had any really good exercises that help get rid of unwanted inches and fat. Thank you.

cardio. however, gaining muscle through strength training can help you up your metabolism so while you're losing try not to lose muscle mass too. You can't outrun a bad diet though, no matter how fast you are. i find that if I'm exercising though, i tend not to want to blow my hard work on crappy food choices, so small steps to finding your mojo is better than sitting on the couch. :) best of luck.

Eat at a reasonable deficient and lift heavy things. By reasonable, set your diary settings to llb/week, not 2lbs/ week. Eat that, every day. Work out 3-4 times a week, do things you love. Try things you don't know you if you love. Find a way of eating that you can stick to, find exercise you like. There were things I knew I couldn't give up. So I gave up the things I could and limited the things I couldn't. Be patient, try stuff, don't believe anything you read on the internet (other than what the old timers here say! LOL)

    Excellent tips above. I'll add:
-Buy a food scale and weigh everything. It greatly simplifies your calorie estimations and improves your accuracy.
-Ditto on give up the things you can say "no" to, and find a way to fit in the things you love to eat.
-Small changes (food and exercise) done consistently, over and over, add up to big results. Be patient and faithful with the small things. Drastic changes lead to burnout and yo-yo for many people.

I realize you asked for exercises, but the key to fat loss is what you eat. Cardio will give you a few more calories (not dramatically more), and strength training will preserve muscle -- both very helpful -- but the main thing is food. Best of luck to you!

Have you spent some time reading the threads in the "most helpful posts" section?

Other than that, I'd just say that it's a mindset more than anything else. Weight loss is mostly about what you eat, though exercise doesn't hurt.

Find active things that you enjoy doing! Hiking, kickboxing, dancing, whatever. Find people that like the same things. It is much easier to keep active if you don't see it as a chore.
