Treadmill Incline... Equipment Question

I have a treadmill in my home gym, so I am pretty much the only person who uses it (occasionally other family members may, but it's pretty few and far between). I'm going back to some 10% incline walks a couple of times a day. I'm wondering which is better for the machine itself ~ to lower and raise it each time, or to leave it it in the incline position between workouts. I'd like to save wear and tear on the machine, but am not sure if there are issues with leaving it in the incline position for an extended period of time. Anyone have an idea? The manual doesn't really address this issue.

I was told by the staff at the gym where I attend is to always put the treadmill on Random setting and let it adjust on its own. This is what I do and it seems to work out fine, if I find it to difficult then I turn it back myself....0
