I'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this, just not sure where to ask.

I prefer to use kettle bells over Dumbbells for a power snatch but I'm between kettlebell weights right now & I'm not sure of how to go about improving the force/power of this lift so I can progress to the next weight size.

The 12 kg. kettlebell is too light but the 16 kg. is too heavy for me. Currently I'm using a 35 lb. dumbbell to do a 1 arm snatch & this weight is moving well when I snatch. Upon occasion I've tried using the 40 lb. dumbbell, single rep just to test with to see if I can progress that way but it's usually a grind for me on my right arm (I've managed to do a couple of single reps in my left hand okay).

I would really appreciate any advice on how I can progress to snatching the 16 kg kettlebell, that being my current goal weight. Thank you in advance for any suggestions/advice.

How many can you do with 12 kg? Maybe increase your reps and then try the higher wieght. I am not by your post how many reps you are doing ect

do accessory lifts , not just snatches. incorporate the barbell also, and other exercises. you will build up everything slowly, it takes time

Thanks for your help. I'm not sure how many reps I can do at 12 kg; the PTs I've had advised Me that snatches are a power movement & to use for low reps max 4/side as opposed to using this exercise for endurance. I've recently started incorporating 1 arm snatches using the 35 lb dumbbell into minimalist strength/density type training where im doing 3 snatches/side along with other strength & cardio based movements AMRAP in 20 mins. To train strength endurance under muscle fatigue.

@sonya also thanks for your input. I do barbell snatches also. What are the assistance/accessory exercises for snatches? Thanks again.
