Studies state that regular brisk walks can aid weight loss better than the gym. A study conducted by the London School of Economics showed that those who indulged in brisk walking for more than 30 minutes on a daily basis had lower a BMI and waist circumference as compared to those who went to the gym or played sports.
Brisk walking without a break can burn a high amount of calories as there is no time for your body to recover. If you’re not short of breath then you aren’t walking brisk enough. NHS says that if you walk 10,000 steps a day then it is equivalent to a weeks exercises. But this number isn’t apt for everyone and may vary depending on one’s body weight. For those who are just getting into the habit of walking, a gradual increase in the number of steps is recommended.
