1) Get a food scale
2) Set up your MFP profile and find out what it gives you for a daily calorie limit
3) Weigh ALL of your food and log it in MFP EVERY DAY. Preferably before you eat it.
4) Eat food you like. Don't restrict yourself from enjoying "junk food". Having a little bit each day will help to keep you from needing to binge on it.
5) Don't go over the goal number that MFP sets for you. That means you better plan your meals a little more carefully or you are going to be hungry when you go to bed.
If you do everything the way you are supposed to you won't need the surgery to lose weight.

Read the helpful posts in the pinned announcements in this and the Getting Started forum. They have a ton of information on how to effectively use MFP.
What is causing you to binge eat? Is it from being overly restrictive by cutting out too many things or your calorie goal being too low, or is it more of an emotional or boredom binge?0 -
No need to eliminate the foods you enjoy, especially if it's causing you to binge. Eat what you like, as it fits into your caloric goal. I make room every day for small amounts of wine and chocolate!0
