You'd said you work in fast food - I assume you work at KFC? Tonight, look at the nutrition info, plan what you are going to eat at work and STICK TO IT.
Until you have calorie counts down, it's easy to overeat if you eat first and then log.0 -
Your human.
Log what you ate and move on.
If you want to, cut 50 cals for a couple of days, but really,if it is just one day it is nothing to worry about.
Congrats on the wedding, and giving yourself time to lose 2 dress sizes without panicking
Cheers, h.0 -
Today is just one of many mistakes, hiccups and back steps.
Assuming your not some sort of flawless robot, your going to make mistakes.
Don't beat yourself up, learn from it.
How much did you over eat? 200 calories or 1000 calories.
200 over depending on you weight loss settings you might still be under your maintenance calories and you will likely lose less, not gain.

I feel your pain, working in fast food at the moment too. When you've pre-logged you know exactly what you're going to eat on your break as opposed to trying to pick on the spot.0

You gained 8% of a pound in a single day. You would have to eat like you did today for almost two weeks straight to gain ONE pound. Stop feeling bad. lol0 -
287 over goal ... not 287 over maintenance. If the OP is set for a 1 lb per week loss, she still had a deficit of 213 calories. If she is set for 2 lbs per week, she had a deficit of 713 calories for the day.0

I think for the op it's less about potential weight gain or slower weight loss and more about lack of control, making mistakes, being angry at your own lack of will power.
So being only a little over goal is irrelevant, being over goal at all is the issue.
Or at least that's my impression I am getting from the post.

A lack of perspective often leads to referring to things as stupid on MFP.0 -
I think she might've just started.
OP, it might take a bit to get into the flow of things, lol. I get feeling stupid, I think. It probably would have been easy enough to avoid those calories! At least, I know that particular feeling0 -
It takes a little while to get used to counting calories. You can be successful.0

I checked your diary and I would strongly suggest you start bringing food from home. There is fast food daily in your meals, which is understandable if you work there, and will definitely not kill you, BUT the problem with it it is that it is rather calorie dense. So, you will end up constantly hungry. And finally you will end up eating more, because you are only human and no one is satisfied with just a couple of chicken wings. Instead of ending up hungry and struggling with your calorie goals, try bringing a filling meal or snack from home. Or eating at home before your shift. It is easier to not be tempted when your stomach is already full, or at least not completely empty.

Look at the averages for the week and don't ever get too worried about any single day. A single day doesn't kill your loss goal unless you let it get in your head and sabotage yourself due to that. If you think a single day will kill things... look at my August 1st.0

What about taking some carrot sticks to work with you to tuck in your pocket. When you feel the urge to nibble have one of them instead. Keep a bottle of water to hand and drink plenty. Also take a meal with you from home, it's OK to eat fast food as a treat but over time the calories will add up. Most of all don't worry about the odd slip, it happens and no doubt it will do again (planning for Christmas ? LOL). When it happens to me I calculate how much the weekly intake should be and then spread the discrepancy over the remaining days. If you've faltered near the end of the week just spread it over the following weeks allowance. You'll get the hang of it and I'm sure that dream dress will look amazing ;-)0

Good idea from Runaroundafield0

Run has the best idea. Since you spend a lot of time in an environment that effectively encourages you to add weight, take steps to change it or strengthen your resolve in spite of it.
Tack up a picture of the dress. Set a reminder on your phone for the time you normally eat with something you find motivating. This will disrupt the normal habit and provide something to focus on. The best thing to do is to prepare meals on Sunday, slot them into containers and take them with you. That way you always have something good available to you.0 -
Nothing is wrong with you - take the pressure off and this'll be so much easier on you physically and mentally. x0
