Nauseous and Lifting

I recently changed lifting plans and on certain days now part way through my workouts, I feel like I'm going to be sick. I have to take little breathers to let the nausea go down a bit before going back to it and finishing my workout. There have been times that when I finish up and go to the locker room to rinse out my shaker, that I end up throwing up. Anyone else get this way?

What exercises/lifts are causing it? What lifting plan were you doing before and what are you doing now?0

And I'd add to those questions above... Are there any changes in what you are eating, or when?
Really other than strenuous stuff too soon after eating, I've never felt nauseous from any time of exercise other than doing something to a level you feel like you are about to die for a couple minutes after. But I can't remember even something like that making me actually puke either.0 -

I've come awfully, awfully close to puking on heavy leg/squat days before!0 -

The only time I ever felt that way was when I drank a shake/smoothie prior to lifting. I don't take smoothies/shakes with me to work out (water only), but on occasion when I had an early appointment with my trainer, I'd chug a protein shake beforehand. It only took once or twice before I realized that milky stuff swishing around inside my stomach with near-immediate lifting afterwards was not conducive to having a good lifting day.
Maybe you're doing a new lifting routine that is really pushing your limits, and drinking a smoothie/shake (which sounds like you're doing given that you rinse out your shaker after you work out) while lifting isn't sitting well with you.
Try having some "dry" food before lifting (45 min to an hour before?) and just have water on hand?0 -

^ same with me. The only time Ive ever felt nausea in the gym is from heavy leg days. I now drink a little gatorade during and that helps.0 -

Having a lot of liquid in my stomach makes me want to toss my cookies. Also if I eat within 90 minutes of my workout it doesn't go well. My ideal window is a meal 3 hours before and if I feel sluggish a small quick carb about an hour before. Any closer and I feel wretched.0 -
It only happens on one of my leg days which consists of supersets and a quad sets. My old plan was more of a pyramid type plan. I don't drink a shake before I work out but do drink a preworkout. When I first started this new plan I was on a break from my preworkout so I have tried with and without it. After reading through here though I'm thinking it's just related to the intensity of my leg day.0

I use to get like this. It would happen if I ate then immediately began my workout. Now I train fasted and eat afterwards.0

How long before you work out are you eating breakfast/lunch/dinner? I will occasionally feel a little pukey if I have eaten a little too close to gym time. During the week, I usually get up around 6, eat at 6:15, start working out at 9:15. On the weekends, I eat closer to 7 and start working out closer 8:30. It's when there is only an hour and half to digest food that I don't feel so well.0
