Lost my way

So these last few weeks my weight has yoyo'd up and down and I have lost my way. I'm not as strict with myself and I've lost interest in the gym.

I've found it hard as I've been going to lunch etc with friends with the lead up to Christmas and recently getting engaged.

How do I motivate myself to get back on track? Going to the gym is hardest.... I love it when I'm into it but just can't seem to get there at the moment.

Sometimes you need to just go before the motivation comes back. Treat it like an appointment to the Gyno... U don't wanna go, it's not going to be fun, but you gotta pitch up anyway.

When I feel my motivation starting to wane I just force myself to put on my clothes and show up to the gym... Once I get there it seems to come back.

Think about Jan 1 and not wanting to add another 10 pounds to your goal because of a few bad weeks of eating.

When you go out for lunch, make small changes. Say no to the bread and butter, no to dressing on your salad, and baked instead of fried. Eat 1/2 and put the other 1/2 away for later. Ask them to split it in the kitchen and bring you a 1/2 serving with the rest to go.

If nothing else you could just try to maintain over the holiday and worry about being stricter after the new year.

Go to the gym whether you feel like it or not. Once you get there, you will feel like you are home where you belong.
When you go out to eat with friends, plan for it by eating a light breakfast and a light dinner.
Make good lunch choices: baked or broiled chicken or fish. Skip the appetizers.
Insist on picking the restaurant so that you can check the calories on line.

This time of year can be really difficult - you're not alone in that! :]

I go to the gym 4 times a week & it really is routine and habit for me. It'd feel weird if i DIDN'T go - but even I have thought whilst driving home from work "Argh, I just want to go home and watch TV!". The important thing to do here is keep your goal in sight. Remember why you are doing this and remind yourself what you want to achieve. Also, that feeling you get when you complete a work-out and get to go home and lounge in front of the TV? Amazing! You really can do both.

To motivate yourself into the gym, why not try a totally different routine to keep things fresh? Attend gym classes if you don't already (they can be quite fun and you don't really have to 'think'! Just move!) or see if you can round up some friends to go along with you every now and again. You can do this!
