Emotional Eating/Poor Will Power

Hi!
I was always maintained a healthy weight my whole life without much effort. At 26, I went through a lot of issues and within 2 years, I put on 45 lbs and I continue to gain.
I have not been able to maintain a healthy life style for more than 10 days - eventually I always break into a binge. I never do fad or extreme diets - but I always quit soon after and binge on anything and everything!
Can someone suggest something that helped them boost their will power?

So what do you do the day after the binge? Just give up and binge every day?

Are you trying to cut your calories too low or cut out foods you enjoy? That can cause binging.

Only you can create your own will power but if you post some details of what you were doing perhaps we can help you see where you can eat more, or help you feel fuller for longer.

Yes having friends who are below 10 percent body fat and me being a fat *kitten*. I am not gay but Daniel Craig's physique in Casino Royale is my goal physique. When I watch Casino Royale I can't wait to hit the gym.

Do you still have issues? Has eating become a habit? You need to address the reasons why you end up binging. I yoyod for years until my health gave me a kick up the backside. Don't leave it til that point. Address the underlying problems. Go see your doctor or well woman clinic. They can do health referrals to kickstart your mindset if it has become a problem but what you need to realise is that only you can do it and it needs to be done for YOU nobody else. You will probably find it will be easier if you have to check in with someone or a group every week, be accountable. Are you doing any exercise? I'm still finding it difficult, it's a daily struggle but I can contact someone if it gets particularly bad for some reason. If I don't lose the weight my joints will seize so that's my incentive. Have you tried an aqua class? It takes all the stress off your joints but you work just às hard. Get a DVD workout. I've got a low impact one, which some may find boring, Rebecca Wheatley the new me, but it gets me moving which is what's important. Facebook has a chair workouts pàge which is handy if I'm feeling particularly delicate. Walking is great too, you can get a sweat on or not, as you please. Plan your meals a week in advance. If you have a family to cater for it won't hurt them to get healthy too, just give them more of what you have. Don't forget to allow yourself some treats, just be sensible. If it will help you are welcome to add me. I log in every day. Good luck honey X

Go to therapy to deal with the emotions. You need to do the work to figure out why you are compelled to sabotage your efforts. It's really not about "willpower"

My guess is if you give up and binge after 10 days, then your goal calories may be slightly too low. If you gave yourself 100-200 more calories per day, maybe you'd be able to stick to your plan better. Just a thought, is all. I don't know what the specifics of your goal deficits have been so far.
