Feels like 99% of people I talk to are all about losing weight. Anyone actually trying to gain?

If so, how long have you been gaining?

What sort of calorie surplus are you on? (counting or not?)

How is it going psychologically? (are you affected by fat gain easily?)

Are you doing resistance training? (if not, why not?!) How is strength coming along?

Sleep?

Energy levels?

Can you do a cartwheel?

    haha the sound of crickets!!

can you feel my pain and loneliness now, Chris??

seems like forever for me. But let's say I've been on the straight and narrow now since about February 2013 and have gained about a kilo in that time (actually gained over a kg of FFM and lost over 1/2 kg of FM so not much weight change).

TDEE estimated around 1650kcals (which I think is about right actually, given I was on that until beginning of May).
Currently on 1800kcals (have been since 1 June). Doing a reverse diet approach but holding macros steady for June as an experiment post my last dexa scan.

I fully expected to have gained fat mass but I seems I don't gain it as easily as I thought. Plus my surplus is very small so it's a long slow path to gaining.
But it did bug me a lot ... post my dexa in June I'm more confident I'm gaining muscle so psychologically that has been a boost ... i feel as though I am on the right track instead of wondering all the time LOL

yes to resistance training as the core of my program. Strength gains have been fantastic although it depends on the lifts and my own strengths and weaknesses (I suck at bench with long levers but do well with deadlifts).
Interesting find last week doing assistance though ... DB bench ... I can lift much heavier weights doing that than I could in November 2012. Took me by surprise. 15kg DBs instead of 10kg DBs.

Sleep is variable and that impacts energy levels somewhat. Mostly for strength training. Doesn't seem to affect any endurance stuff :p

Can't do a cartwheel unfortunately :( Never could.
But hoping to get some muscle ups under my belt and maybe finally get my handstand if I can make my left scapula behave!

    crickets indeed

1kg of weight gained is about 2% BW in 4 months. Dexa says you are doing it right!

That is some pretty damn good DB pressing! I only use 25kg.

Cartwheels are harder than handstands! Dare I say it, kipping muscle up?

    haha I never kip :noway:

db press was hilarious. I grabbed some dbs, did a few reps and thought, hmmm that was too easy.... ended up sitting there a bit perplexed as to which weight to use. Anna was proud LOL

if I could do a handstand and not have a scap/shoulder collapse on me, I'd be yelling it from the mountain tops :p

Have you tried powerlifting + no cardio (or very little, maybe sprint training once a week) + 250 to 500 extra calories a day? That is what I did a few years back to get up to 220 pounds at 6% bf. Years later I'm back to 185 and around 10% bf but I did enjoy being massive.

Does a healthy pregnancy weight gain count?
