Hey Everyone,
So I am looking to add whey protein into my diet but I don't know which kind would be best! Any suggestions on which whey proteins are good and won't break the bank?

Body Fortress products are alright. They're the Wal-Mart brand and super cheap. It's what I'm using.
I haven't had the powder, but if its anything like their protein bars it's a good option. It's also fairly cheap at about $10 a pound.
EAS is available. I haven't heard much about it, but it's a bit more expensive than the cheaper end, but you'll be able to find it on the shelves.
From what I can gather, Trutein is about the pinnacle in protein powders, but you'll pay a bit extra for it. You may also have a hard time finding it in stores, while all the stuff above can be found in grocery stores. I haven't seen Trutein anywhere but online or in a nutritional store.
I've seen several people who use Optimum Nutrition, which goes up in price and might be a bit harder to find. I'd check your pharmacy to see if they have it. Other than that you could check a GNC or Vitamin Shop if you're in a hurry. Otherwise you could just order it from online.
I've also heard decent things about BSN Syntha-6. Super special chemically formulated, blah, blah, etc. I'm not sure what it all means, but some people think it's pretty neat. You "should" be able to find it in a pharmacy, but I've never seen it in a grocery store.
Mixing your powder:
I CAN NOT handle the flavor of straight powder in water. However, the solubility can become an issue in milk depending on the powder you get. What I do sometimes is add about 1/4 the amount in water to the milk so I get the creamy flavor while having easy solubility.
Mixing your protein powder in with some greek yogurt is also a boss move. Just be careful not to spill. You're also not going to get a full scoop in a little thing of yogurt. Use maybe up to half a scoop, adding gradually. Figure a plain chobani is 100 calories and 18g of protein, adding 75 calories of powder with 15g of protein, for a total of 23g of protein in a chocolate/peanut butter/strawberry/vanilla/etc. flavored yogurt.
These are just my experiences. Results may vary.0 -
Look for a whey protein that is Cross flow microfiltrated, that's nearly the best. Is lactose free too. The top of the protein pyramid are the Hydroisolates, which run about 70$ for 5 lbs.
Stay away from anything with whey protein concentrate as a main ingredient, such as the protein at wal mart and grocery stores.
True nutrition.com is great and you can custom pick your protein.0
