Question about calories earned back in steps

I walk a decent amount of steps a day, between 13,000-22,000, and the Samsung Health app I use says I burned hundreds, or even over a thousand calories, should I try to eat back some of those calories or not? I think no, because my calorie count is already based on an "active" lifestyle.

Keep track of your weight for a few weeks, if you are not losing or are losing too fast adjust your intake.

This is cropping up all over today: some walking estimates provide ridiculously high burns! You can use several metrics. Runners world has one I think is kind of too low: .30 X body weight X miles.
I use 100 calories/mile. Some larger people like men might use 150/mile. My Fitbit app converts my steps to miles pretty conservatively. Today I walked 17566 steps, or 7.6 miles. And MFP gave me an adjustment of about 780 calories. Close enough. I see lots of status updates that look crazy high. Like 'so & so burned 1026 calories walking 45 minutes at 2.5 miles per hour.' Ummmm, nope!

If you are set to active probably not at the lower end but yes at the higher

Does that app synch automatically to MFP? That, with enabling negative adjustments would be the way to judge how many to eat back

I'm set to sedentary, if I walk 13K I'd probably earn back 600 calories over sedentary and I'd eat every one of them (I use a fitbit zip)

But. The difference between me ticking sedentary and active is 580 cals

You are at very active or above very active.
For myself very active corresponds to just under 16000 steps on the fitbit (14000 or so on the phone).

I set my account to "sedentary" and then let Fitbit count my steps. Walking is my only exercise. If I am completely sedentary, Fitbit tells me I burn about 1,850 calories a day (40yrs old, female, 166cm, 79.8kg). When I get to about 12,000 steps, like yesterday, Fitbit tells me I burn about 2,400 (but I try not to eat all my calories back, just in case). I've been losing just over the one pound of week MFP tells me I should be losing based on what I eat, so I'd say it's reasonably accurate.
