losing body fat

I'm just wondering if eating at maintenance and continuing to exercise will reduce body fat percentage? I'm a pound away from the goal weight I set myself but I am unhappy with my body fat % (30%) and I know reducing it is the only way to get rid of the spots I'm still unhappy with.
From what I've read on here weight training is the best way - but I haven't got a gym membership or the money at the moment to join, I currently walk and do Jillian Michaels DVDs, and am going to attempt the couch to 5K thing.
Does anyone know if this will be enough or if I would be better to reassess my goal weight (I'm reluctant to do that but I would be willing to).
Sorry to sound so clueless :blushing:

I'm about 3-4 pounds away from my goal of 130lbs, and still at like 26%BF... I'd love to know what others recommend! I'm in the same boat, with being unable to afford a membership right now...
Also, I'm more concerned about BF% than weight, so if I lose/gain a few, I'm not too worried

You do not need a gym membership. I prefer to save the money. You can use your own body weight as weights or you can invest in some weights for your home. I have started off with 5lb hand weights and I do a variety of strength training in my patio. I have read when the move gets eadier with the weight move to a heavier weight. Hope this helps.0

The only way to reduce body fat is to eat at a caloric deficit. It doesn't have to be a huge cut...anything under your TDEE will eventually lead to fat loss. But no - you can't eat at maintenance and lose fat. FWIW, I'm eating at about 95% of my TDEE right now and still expect to lose some bf while I sit at that level of intake for a few months.
Strength training will help retain your lean mass/muscle, so that you get a more pleasing aesthetic after the fat has been reduced.0
