Im gonna start my first ever bulk after losing 8 stone soon. 5ft 10 169 lbs aiming for half a pound a week.
Firstly, why do you eat less protein when bulking compared to cutting? Ive been cutting on 200g P 150g C 40g F. 1750 calories a day so a 500 deficit each day.
However on my bulk ill be aiming for this

That that sound right? 0.8g Protein x 169 (my body weight) 0.45g fat x 169 and rest carbs

When I tried bulking (and failed! lol) I had a similar question and what I heard/read was:
When bulking you want to add size, that means more calories and more carbs on the menu. Protein is very satisfyig so if you eat too much protein, chances are you won't be able to reach the amount you need.
Protein is mainly used to synthesize muscle, but you'll need the extra carbss to create new muscle mass (or something like that!)
Any experts feel free to expand lol0 -
Haha yeah. Like bulking too me would be adding size muscle and strength? So why cut down on protein? Haha0

You can get away with eating less protein when bulking.
Keep protein at 150 grams the rest whatever since you want to bulk.

It is but the formula is not "eat more protein, become bigger, faster, stronger!"
That's marketing. My gym trainer always said that the reason I don't gain size is because I eat too much protein (I LOVE meat) but don't eat enough carbs.
What she also explained once was "Protein is like a muscle brick layer...but if you don't supply them with the tools and the bricks - how the hell are they going to build a wall?"
So the macros matter more than the protein alone - and your work out of course. (Which again - my issue being I never think I'm lifting heavy enough, despite feeling dead afterwards lol)0 -
Ok so my maconutriebt bulk ratio looks fine?0
