    Not really. You can lose weight without doing either. They are just tools to help increase deficit and more accurately track what you are eating. Both weight loss and fitness goals can be achieved without either.

    That said, I've seen a number of your posts asking questions, which is a good thing. Asking questions expands your knowledge on a subject and gives you more options. But if you really had the motivation to exercise more and lose weight without logging food, there is a chance you might not have ended up here. And that's not a judgment... I was losing weight without doing any food logging. I came here to find a way to log food to more properly take care of the nutritional concerns.
