Hernia

So I have been exercising for about 9 month. I lost 60 lbs and I feel good. I started with alot of cardio now I am focused on weight lifting. Recently I got a small hernia at work. I have not been to the gym in a week and I am dying to get back in there. I have no pain from the hernia and I just want to workout. Dr. Said no lifting more then 25lbs. I don't know what exactly to do while they schedule me a appointment for surgery. Any suggestions

No lifting more than 25 pounds. You can do cardio.
Imagine an over-inflated water balloon pressing against a tissue with a small tear in it. Put any more pressure on that tissue and it tears further. You have all that goopy balloon on the wrong side of the tissue. Now you don't have a small hernia repair; you have a big one.0 -
Follow your doctor's advice. You should find out pretty soon when your surgery will be. You won't lose much muscle or strength even if you have to take off a couple months, and what you do lose should come back quickly, much faster than it took to build the first time. After the surgery, see how you feel and again, follow your doctor's advice.
Different people have different experiences with hernia surgeries. Some are back on their feet the following day. Others are not so lucky. I had a double hernia surgery a few years ago. I was laid up for a couple weeks with a good amount of pain, and it took the better part of a year before I felt 100% again. I hadn't been working out before the surgery and I'm guessing that I would have had an easier time if I went into it with a stronger core, but there's no way of knowing now.
Whether you're one of the lucky ones or not, take it slow. You'll only slow your long term development if you injure yourself further.0
