I'm a strong believer in eating back calories burned at the gym. Learnt it through experience.

But I burn upwards of 1200 calories most days, how do I meet my calorie goals without eating the 'bad' stuff?

My experience has been quite the opposite. I rarely eat back calories, and even then, only half. :)

I've learned the same. Though I'd be cautious with calorie burns. There are a lot of calculators etc, but they can only be so accurate. I wouldn't want to eat an extra 1200 calories because I thought I burned that many, when in reality I only burned 800 for example. However if your burn is truly 1200, try calorie dense foods like avacados, nuts, butter etc. There are many threads with high calorie foods to eat, as well as using Google as a resource. Also, what is a 'bad food' in your opinion? I've learned a calorie is a calorie. Yes, there are other nutrition factors that come in play, but if you're basing good/bad solely on cals I wouldn't worry about it. A good example is a big Mac. High in calories (500+), with a good bit of protein. Some would consider this a 'bad' food because its overly processed, high in fat etc. Personally, I don't.

How are you burning 1,200 calories most days? That's a lot, more than many runners burn during their long runs. Before you begin eating those back, you should verify that they're accurate.

Don't worry about "good" or "bad" foods. If you're meeting your nutritional and calorie goals, you can eat a wide variety of foods.
