Lose the 40# and avoid the surgery. Read the success stories on here and even if you slip up, don't give up!! Not every surgery is a success and you'd be wise to commit to doing it "the old fashioned way" if possible.0

I had a VSG in 2012 & it was one the best things I've ever done, but I wouldn't recommend it for you if you only have to lose 40 lbs. I'm surprised they would even do the surgery for you with so little to lose.0

40 is what is needed to qualify. Profile says ~140 to lose, I think? Good luck OP!0

I started 110 lb over the top end of a healthy BMI weight in JAN14.
Lost 80 in just over a year, bounced back up a little, am getting rid of it again.
No surgery, a few months' help from an appetite suppressant (until my appetite reset to normal).
If you can control yourself & lose the weight in order to have surgery,
you can keep that success going without permanently changing your body.
All stomach surgery does is make it harder to overeat, more severe penalties when you do.0 -
Yes I have to get the cardo under control and just fit it in a 16hr work schedule0
