My Apple Watch estimates calories burned during exercise based on heart rate. Is this fairly accurate? Also, should I eat back those calories?

There a margin of error for any of the fitness trackers. Most people who eat back their exercise calories suggest you start with 50% for a few weeks and see where that puts you. Then you can adjust according to how the scale is reacting.

50 % is safe. It helps accommodate miscalculations, in both logging and overestimations in burns.
