I would love any feedback and advice! This is my first time using a food scale and trying to portion food.

Tonight I measured out:

3 pounds of lunch meat in 2 oz portions. I rolled them up and put three 2 oz lunch meat portions in a quart size bag. I plan to freeze them.

Shredded cheese in 56 gram portions in a quart size bags. There was one serving left over so I plan to keep that one in the fridge and freeze the other 3 bags.

3 boxes of whole wheat pasta in 2 oz portions in quart size bags.

1 box of bran flakes in 29 gram portions in quart size bags.

I didn't finish the container but I made twelve 40 gram bags of Quick 1-minute oats in quart size bags and put them in a gallon bag.

I wish I had picked up bags smaller than quart size.

I noticed the WW Smart Ones meals use a lot of pasta. I thought if I had a serving size ready I could make them with vegetables. For the lunch meat I have Sandwich Skinnys and lettuce. When I'm guesstimating them I take a piece, give some to the cats, put a few pieces on my sandwich, take another piece.. I'm wondering if they will taste OK defrosted.

sounds like you've got a plan. and if making all these preplanned baggies will help you stay on track then it will work. if it was me, for the bran flakes i would just put the bowl on the scale and then weigh flakes directly into the bowl, reset and any fruits or sugars rather than create all these baggies.

You are doing way more than I have ever done. I cook dry beans and freeze in half cup portions to use in pasta or salads or canned low sodium soups. Lots of times, since I'm preparing breakfast at home I will just use a measuring cup or sit the bowl on scale, and zero it our and dump the oatmeal into the bowl. ( saving some steps) I have 4 sets of measuring cups and 3 sets of measuring spoons. I read on another post that a couple cooks all of their meals for the week in one day and measures them out into microwave containers for both lunch and dinner. Wow, I want to try that. Would make my life lots easier. I am going to incorporate some of your ideas! You are doing great!
