Sugar from fruit - is it okay?

So this is my first time actually using my fitness pal account that I actually created years ago, and I was caught a little off guard when I entered my morning food. This morning I had a fruit smoothie for breakfast made with fruit, plain unsweetened kefir, and then I added a scoop of unprocessed wheat bran for some extra fiber. After I logged all my ingredients in, I was shocked to see that I was DOUBLE the daily recommendation of sugar even with only consuming around 2.5 servings of fruit and using unsweetened kefir. A banana alone is 19 grams out of the recommended 24 grams per day! A serving of kefir is 12 grams! I'm so confused! I thought it was recommended to consume 2-3 servings of fruit a day!?

I am not specifically trying to lose weight right now - just trying to all around eat/live healthier, and if I end up losing a few pounds then that is great but not my main concern as I've realized dieting just to focus on weight loss never works for me. I'm a 21 year old female and I would say I probably live a moderately active lifestyle? I waitress during the summer which means a lot of time on my feet and I do a lot of walking/hiking for fun. I'm 5'6" and around 156 pounds.

Is it okay for me to be consuming more than the recommended dosage of sugar if it is all coming from natural sources like fruit? I usually only eat fruit at breakfast but its disconcerting to know that I've already exceeded my sugar allocation for the day!!
