Working out twice a day?

Is it safe and effective or not?
I go to the gym, do weight training + cardio and I thought about starting working out at home too, after my gym session, with the blogilates calendar if any of you know it.
Is it okay or I'm gonna mess everything up?

When it comes to strength training, I wouldn't work the same muscles twice a day. I wouldn't even work the same muscle group once a day 2 days in a row. Your body will require rest to recover, and when it comes to strength training, you need at least 1 day rest on that particular muscle group.

You will get differences in opinion.
You shouldn't work the same muscle group twice, as Stoshew pointed out, in fact weight training twice a day should be avoided to allow your muscles to repair.
However saying that, I do go to the gym twice a day, I do cardio in the morning, and HIIT and weights in the evening.0 -
It depends entirely on what your training consists of.
The more important question to ask would be why do you want to train twice/day and do you think this is a good thing to attempt when it comes to long term compliance to your training?
But as far as "can you do it", yes if you set it up intelligently you can.
You can also train same muscle groups every day if you structure it properly.

While I don't do strength training twice a day, I will do a weightlifting session at the gym in the morning and then do my HIIT workout in the evening. This gives my muscles a chance to rest a little. I never lift weights twice in one day, though.0

Well, if the second workout doesn't involve lifting weights? If it's mainly cardio/HIIT, would that count as training the muscle twice a day as well?0

Depends on the intensity and modality of cardio. It could tax the legs similar to a resistance training session if it's very high intensity sprinting/cycling.
But it still could be fine depending on diet/training and individual recovery.0 -

I think we need to know more about Blogilates because of the bodyweight aspect of it.
I do cardio at lunch and strength training at night. When I was a full time yoga teacher and strength training, I didn't feel like they interfered with each other.0
