Continuing my fitness journey

Hi folks,
I've been using myfitnesspal on and off for years, but never thought to come to the forums!
Growing up an overweight kid influenced by others who had eating disorders but never quite adopted one myself (thankfully), I've managed to go from trying to lose weight to trying to simply have a healthy body image. Now in my mid 20s, I focus on building my fitness level to become more athletic. I gain and lose weight here and there, but try not to worry about it. As a high school teacher, my goal is to be more of a model of how to treat ourselves with the level of self respect we deserve by taking care of our minds and bodies.
I practice yoga, jog, and hike. I am also hypoglycemic. My decision to begin taking better care of myself began when at 19 I found out how easily members of my family could become diabetic, being hypoglycemic. Which sucks, because I really like food. But I study up and practice interesting ways to create healthy but delicious food.
I've become a bit of a health nut, but I barely have any self control when offered most food.
Anyways, good to "meet" you all
Edit: also, I might want to add that being a bit of a science nerd, I like finding and debunking pseudoscience, especially those that could be potentially harmful. Especially health pseudoscience. They are endless. But I think it's important to arm yourself with the basic scientific knowledge to be able to decipher between marketing buzzwords and products or diets that are actually backed by evidence.
If you want to know if a diet, product, or health plan works or not, I am your girl.
