What do you do when you have food left over?

My appetite has been slowly getting smaller (which is a good thing since I used to be able to pack it away- I ate an entire 14 in pizza just over a month ago!!!). But I'm also finding that I'm getting full almost too fast- ex: made a sandwich and salad for my lunch and after the sandwich, I was full.
I feel like I should eat the salad so that I don't get hungry in an hour or so, but I also want to listen to my body and not overeat. i'm not too worried about reaching my calorie goal since I usually end up within 100 of my limit anyway, I just don't want to set myself back up with bad habits such as eating until I'm physically in pain again
So do you make yourself finish meals, save it for later (kind of gross with dressing already on it lol), or just toss it and don't worry about it?
Thanks

It depends on the food, lol. I would just toss the salad. It's really, really annoying sometimes because I've been taught not to throw away food, and it's pretty ingrained, but sometimes you just gotta do it. You're not going to eat it later 'cause it'll be soggy. o:0

Do you work at a desk? Is it possible for you to wait that hour and see if you are in fact hungry? I found constricting myself to one time of eating makes it hard sometimes and creates that anxiety about eating enough, not eating enough, et cetera, so I try to pace myself at my desk and eat as it comes to me.0

I eat several times a day, smaller portions. I would toss the salad (giggle) because it's nasty after a while unless you start keeping the dressing on the side and dip your fork in it and then get a bite of salad.0

I don't have any left over anymore. My wife and I make dinner and have enough left over for lunch the next day and that's it. If something happens and food is left, we eat it on the weekend if necessary. If we don't want it (and the kids won't eat it) we toss it.0

I eat in small amounts all day long. It's been tough training myself to do this, but it helps. Also, if you aren't sure of how quickly you are going to get full, start with your salad first, put your sandwich in the firdge and wat it later.0

I never throw away food. I come from a very poor family and I know there are families out there who really need food. Now that I'm dieting, I made a lot less food because I know I will not eat it. If it is something like salad, I would not want to save it for later so I would just eat it and be done with it and not do the same thing again next time. I leave a note on my fridge that says "Your Eyes Are Bigger" (than your stomach)0

I feed kitchen scraps and unwanted leftovers to my chick and turkey flock. And they give me fresh eggs. Win!0

No, I don't work at a desk, I homeschool my kids and teach college at night though I'm off right now. I stay pretty active but have limited eating times while they are up. I get in 3 meals, a snack and a dessert so I eat about 5 times a day. If you look at my diary, it was actually a pretty small meal (2 slices of bread with meat and cheese and 1.5 cups of salad) so I'm still pretty surprised that I was full since any other day it's just right and I actually love salad lol.
I ended up 'sharing' the salad with my kids and tossing the little bit that was left. I came from a poor, clean your plate family, so I too have issues with just throwing food away but I also have an issue with eating because I feel like I have toI think I'll have to start with half a sandwich and then eat the other half if I'm still hungry. I'm just trying to get out off the mindset of needing/wanting seconds.
