Starving all day!!!!

For a long time I was exercising really hard after work burning 500 - 800 calories a class and things seemed to be going really well. My schedule got moved around and now I exercise in the morning before work but I find that even though I'm burning less calories because I'm trying to rehab my knees so I can't push myself as hard, come 12:00pm I am starving no matter how great my breakfast was.

I can't seem to kick this hunger and it's not good. At my job I'm constantly on my feet and need to be in a good head space but when all I can think about is food...no good.

Any advice would be welcome on this. I eat oatmeal about an hour or so after my work out. Should I so something different? I've never had this problem before

    Isn't 12:00 P.M. lunch time? Have lunch.

How many calories are you eating? How much protein and fiber are you eating? Generally, people cut calories too much, in combination of too little fiber and protein, which leaves them hungry.

I found that upping my protein really helped in terms of managing my hunger, although I was really rebellious about doing it. I still eat plenty of carbs, but the difference was made by adding some peanut butter or chia seeds to my breakfast oats (I love oats) and by having a decent amount of protein at lunch.

I also think my hydration levels had something to do with it and increasing my water intake by about a 3rd helped too. Sometimes you think you are hungry, when you are actually just thirsty and all that.

I find I am my hungriest betwen the hours of 8 and 5. I eat most of my calories between those hours and usually can have a small dinner. I find that works for me instead of trying to hold off on eating until "meal time". If I held out until I was starving, I would make poor choices so this works for me

Can you have a snack around 10 or so in the morning? I eat just about every 2-3 hours, small snacks, so I'm never hungry. I couldn't imagine waiting from breakfast to lunch to eat.

Describe your oatmeal breakfast and what you eat throughout the rest of the day as well...

Eat lunch then or if you can't eat at that time for some reason have something in your pocket you can snack on which will tide you over till you can eat, maybe some nuts like almonds, hazelnuts or walnuts to nibble on, or eat a banana.

Maybe OP's too hungry at noon for her lunch to be satisfying.

Personally, I can't do just oatmeal for breakfast. I need protein and fat or I'm hungry again in an hour. Eggs, a sausage link or two, peanut butter, anything along those lines helps me.

Typically, though, I just skip breakfast completely - I still don't get hungry until lunch. And even then, it's not anything more than 'hey, I feel like I could eat'. Another benefit is my lunch and dinner can be a bit more substantial, which I like.

Add fat to your breakfast. I eat avocado most mornings with 2 eggs and cheese. I'm never hungry

Do you have time for a morning snack? Nuts are grwat with their protien or if you're looking for something with lower calories try some raw veggies or a fruit.

Protein, fat and fiber are filling. Plain oatmeal (while good for you) doesn't have enough protein, fat or fiber for me.

When I make oatmeal, I use milk instead of water to bump up the protein, or stir in protein powder. A sprinkle of nuts, or a spoonful of nut butter for healthy fats....that gives it staying power.

Another vote for a higher protein breakfast.

I see that I didn't explain myself well. What I meant to say is by noon in starving if I ate at 10 or 8. Also it feels like no matter how much I've eaten for lunch I'm hungry an later. It's very frustrating.

2080 calories. I have oatmeal almost every morning as far as protein I eat chicken almost every lunch. I will try adding an egg to my oatmeal to see if that works. Thanks for the input everyone
