So, I have always wanted to be able to do this from a standing position http://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Yoga-Pose-Wheel-aka-Backbend-Explained-885472
but I was always terrified of falling lol well now I am not as thin as I was, since my three kids 5 and under, but I am working on that and my flexibility. I can do that position easily if I start laying down and I think even if I start kneeling, but I don't have the ability to start from a standing position, yet. Does this mean I never can, as in is it likely a flexability issue, or does it mean I don't have the muscle strength? Also, I can't put my feet all the way behind my head anymore, just a tiny bit for a second. Think if my tummy goes away that will help? Lol. I really miss being able to flex more. It is good for the muscles and bones.

It most likely means you just aren't there yet. Try wall walk downs to help with progressing there.

Sounds good :) I know some people cant do them at all I guess because of flexibility or whatever reason so I was curious if anyone thought i could learn. I def am way out of shape and not there yet lol Im still all the way at 185lbs and prob 30-40% body fat embarrassing to admit lol but I can still manage a backbend easily from the laying position so Im hoping once Im more around 20-30% body fat and near my goal weight that I can do one from standing. I just wanted to know if it might be worth practice and how to do so. I will definitely try wall walks. I never thought of that, oddly. Good idea. :)

Do practice going backwards from kneeling, or standing without dropping all the way down. It feels completely different to push up from the ground, so I'm guessing the muscles used are quite different, too.

The flexibility could limit you, but you'd probably know that when pushing up, too. Have someone see how much of an arch you have then. If it's too flat, you can't get there from above. You'd fall on your head! Be careful and have fun :)

Oh! That's a good point. I can walk my feet backwards some so Ill see how close I can get. If need be I can measure myself with tiles on the floor lol. or get a picture on my webcam Lol. Ill figure it out.
