Target weight gain

I'm helping a friend with her nutrition as she tries to gain some weight. I told her she can't really control where she gains the weight unless she does strength training her targeted weight gain area (butt and legs). I just want to make sure I wasn't misleading her. Can anyone verify my info or provide other helpful insight? Thanks!

    You can't spot reduce or add. She can target adding muscle to certain areas by lifting, but a well rounded lifting program that incorporates working the entire body is going to result in lower fat gains than just legs and butt exercises.
